The 2MW platform has been installed in 45 countries across six continents since it was first introduced to the market 17 years ago, Vestas said.
Since then, the platform’s annual energy production (AEP) has increased by 40%, the company claimed.
Nacelles of the platform’s five variants maintain the same dimensions to secure predictability and installation.
The platform’s milestone installation took place at MidAmerican Energy Company’s Wind XI project in Iowa, with the installation of a V110-2.0MW turbine.
The platform makes up 12% of the US’ total installed wind capacity, and 8% of the global total, Vestas claimed.
