SGRE wins 784MW in US orders

UNITED STATES: Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) will supply and install more than 300 turbines with a combined capacity of more than 780MW at five unnamed sites, the company announced.

The manufacturer will provide 92 units of its SWT-2.3-108, 144 of its SWT-2.625-120 and 74 of its G126-2.625 for the unspecified projects.

The nacelles and hubs for the SWT-2.3-108 and SWT-2.625-120 will be assembled at SGRE’s factory in Hutchinson, Kansas, the company said, while the majority of the blades for the 310 turbines will be made at its blade factory in Fort Madison, Iowa.

SGRE onshroe CEO Ricardo Chocarro a, said the North American market was "critical" to the company’s success.

"These orders demonstrate the confidence that our customers have in our combined product offerings," he added.

The company has installed more than 9,000 wind turbines with a combined capacity of more than 17GW in the US, SGRE claimed.

Most recently, it won a contract in September to partially repower two Texan wind farms operated by NextEra Energy Resources.
