The RE100 campaign commits companies to sourcing 100% of their operations from renewable power and lobbies governments to increase access to low-carbon power.

TCG's programme, launched in 2014, now includes more than 100 companies including technology firms like Apple, Google, and Facebook, to consumer goods companies like Estee Lauder, Kelloggs, Ebay and Ikea.

It also counts vehicle manufacturer BMW Group, drinks suppliers AB InBev, Coca Cola, Carlsberg, as well as a range of banks and financial institutions as members.

Vestas joins fellow player in the renewables space Vaisala on the list of companies campaigning to source 100% renewable energy.

According to TCG, Vestas' operations have been powered by 100% renewables since 2013. "The company will work in partnership with RE100 to help influence more ambitious renewable energy targets and a policy framework for Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) that enables more renewables in the energy mix," TCG said.

By joining RE100, Vestas also commits to sourcing 100% renewable energy in the future, should consumption increase.
