After installing 57 of Vestas’ V126-3.45MW turbines at Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ site, the Fred Olsen-owned compane will provide health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) and project management. Construction at the site began in May 2017.
The service provider also plans to develop a "local business unit" in the United States this year, it said.
GWS has employed a workforce of more than 60 technicians to deliver the Bearkat 1 in west Texas as well as future projects, it added.
It will have a temporary office in Chicago, Illinois in the north of the country, while a permanent location is found.
GWS co-founder and acting US manager Michael Nielsen said: "The US wind market holds an enormous potential for development and growth, making it the natural next step for GWS.
"It has long been our ambition to establish ourselves on the US market, so the Bearkat 1 project was the perfect opportunity for our market entry."
GWS was previously involved with the installation of five GE Haliade 150-6MW turbines at the Block Island wind farm — the US’ first offshore wind site.
