Senvion signs generator framework deal in China

CHINA: Senvion has signed a strategic framework agreement with supplier CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Company for generators for its NES-based 3.XM series.

The generators will support Senvion's NES-based (Next Electrical System) 3.XM series

Under the contract, signed at the China Wind Power event in Beijing (17-19 October), CRRC will provide at least 50% of generators for the 3.7M144 — at least 100 machines — over the next three years.

CRRC is a traction equipment and wind power generator manufacturer in China.

The generators will be shipped to Senvion’s assembly facilities. The manufacturer has plants in Germany, Portugal, Poland and India.

Jürgen Geissinger, CEO at Senvion, said: "Efficient purchasing deals that create scale effects whilst ensuring highest quality are strategically crucial steps towards a more optimised technology.

"With this cooperation together with CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Company for generators, that will power our 3.XM series turbine of the future at the best conditions, Senvion will reach the next step of our goals."

Senvion has 82 turbines installed in China across four wind farms with a total capacity of 162MW, according to Windpower Intelligence, the research and data division of Windpower Monthly.
