When Tricon Boston Consulting’s three-part site goes online next year, the project in Jhimpir will be the largest operational wind farm in Sindh province, according to Windpower Intelligence.
Site owner Sapphire Textile Mills set up Tricon Boston Consulting to aid the provision and installation of the project.
Tricon Boston has also contracted PowerChina to build the project, while GE will operate and maintain the project for ten years.
The project is due to go online next year, and will help fulfil the government’s target of increasing the proportion of indigenous sources of power generation to more than 50% by 2025.
The US Agency for International Development and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory estimates Pakistan currently has more than 132GW of wind capacity.
