The blades will be made using RodPack technology, which uses aligned fibre reinforcement as a substitute for glass fabrics as the main girder in blades, the manufacturer said.

Senvion acquired the RodPack technology from US materials firm Chase Corporation in November 2015.

Blade producer TPI will start building the fibre-reinforced blades at its facility in Taicang Port, located in China's Jiangsu province in the first quarter of 2018.

Following TPI's agreement with Senvion, the blade manufacturer's CEO Steve Lockard said: "We are pleased to add Senvion as a key customer and that Senvion has chosen TPI as its wind blade outsource and technology partner for the Asian, Australian and South American markets."
