EDF said it would offer the generators to plant owners to install them on blades through a turnkey solution.

The generators will be used to increase efficiency and annual energy production of the projects' turbines by 2-3%.

"As the largest third-party provider of O&M services in North America, EDF Renewable Services is the perfect collaborator for 3M as we continue our commitment to building, protecting and enhancing the performance of wind turbines," said 3M's global business manager for wind, Santhosh Chandrabalan.

"When properly installed, wind-vortex generators energise the flow around a blade's surface and reduce aerodynamic separation, improving the turbine's performance in terms of power, loads and service life."

EDF Renewable Services provides operations and maintenance to roughly 10GW of wind and solar assets in the US.
