Gamesa wins first order for new turbine

MEXICO: Gamesa has been to contracted to supply its new G132-3.465MW turbines to an unnamed 198MW project in Mexico.

A Mexican power utility has placed the first order for Gamesa's G132-3.465MW turbine

The latest variation on the company’s 3.3MW platform, unveiled a year ago, is aimed at medium and medium-low wind-speed sites, and is available with four different towers for hub heights ranging from 84 to 134 metres.

The 64.5-metre fibreglass rotor blades feature what the company describes as a new family of aerodynamic edges aimed at increasing output while minimising noise.

The first prototype has been testing in Spain since late summer 2016, with serial production due to start in 2017.
