Nordex wins new Finnish order

FINLAND: German manufacturer Nordex has been awarded a 27MW order from ABO Wind for a project in western Finland.

Nordex's N131 turbine will be installed at the ABO Wind project in west Finland

Nordex will supply nine N131 3MW turbines to the project near Jamijarvi, 90km north-west of Tampere in west Finland.

Construction is expected to begin over the winter, with completion due in autumn 2017, the manufacturer said. The contract also includes 15-years' servicing.

"ABO Wind is a long-standing customer of Nordex with projects in Germany, France, Ireland and now Finland too. We are very pleased to note the confidence once again placed in our technology and service," said Nordex CSO Patxi Landa.

ABO Wind has a portfolio of around 400MW across ten projects in development, operation or under construction in Finland.

Nordex has won several orders in Finland this year, including a 90MW deal from local asset manager Taaleri to provide turbines to the Kivivaara-Peuravaara project in central Finland.

The Finnish government has set a target of 6TWh of wind power a year by 2020, equivalent to 2.5GW of installed capacity, according to ABO Wind.
