The agreement will see the two firms "jointly identify and develop larger-scale power generation projects from renewable energy sources".
Onshore and offshore wind sites will be targeted, as well as solar, hybrid gas-renewables and waste-to-energy projects, Eni said. Details on how the relationship will work were not given.
The Italian firm said its experience with GE in the oil and gas sector would be helpful in developing the projects.
"This agreement, which is part of Eni's strategy of developing renewable energy by leveraging on the industrial and commercial synergies of its traditional activities, will help Eni to pursue the progressive decarbonisation of its energy mix," Eni said in a statement.
