In total, the ministry received 47 offers for a total of 2,486MW (including 925MW of solar energy capacity).
In this round, wind energy offers must come under a ceiling price of $59.39/MWh, the average price contracted during the first round.
The bids will be opened on 23 November and awarded two days later.
Argentina is seeking to contract an additional 600MW of renewable energy (400MW of wind and 200MW of solar) after contracting 1.1GW of capacity in October as part of the country’s first renewable tender under new legislation approved in 2015.
The government hopes that technologies such as biomass, solar and wind will help the country wean itself off imported fossil fuels which have resulted in some of the highest generation costs in the region.
In the first round, 12 wind energy projects won 708MW of the total on offer, with multinationals Envision Energy and Eren Groupe and local players Central Puerto, Pampa Energy and Pan American Energy among the winners.
