The final investment decision will not be made until 2017, but Senvion has been chosen to supply 25 of its new 3.6M140 turbine for the 90MW Glen Innes project in New South Wales, and a further 59 to the 212MW Lincoln Gap wind farm in South Australia.
The latest variant of Senvion’s 3.XM platform, the 3.6MW model with a rotor diameter of 140 metres, was introduced at the WindEnergy exhibition at Hamburg in September.
Senvion claims a 20% increase in energy yield at wind speeds of 7.5m/s over its predecessor, while lifetime has been extended to 25 years.
"We are well positioned to expand our activities in Australia, and this new upgraded variant to our product portfolio ensures we can offer our customers optimised solutions for a wide range of wind regimes," said Senvion CEO Jürgen Geissinger.
