Vestas wins 48MW from CGN

CHINA: CGN Wind Energy has awarded Danish OEM Vestas the contract to supply a 48MW project in south-east China.

Vestas has a 1GW relationship with CGN in China

Vestas will deliver turbines to the Nan'an Xiangyun project, near Quanzhou City in Fujian, south-east China.

Delivery is expected in early 2017, with commissioning set for the end of Q2.

The turbine model was not disclosed by Vestas, but it has previously supplied CGN with its V100-2MW turbine. Its most recent contract with the developer was at the end of September. Vestas won a deal to supply the V100 to a site in Liaoning province, north-west China.

Vestas said it now has more than 1GW of cumulative orders from CGN. "Long-term partnerships like the one we have with CGN are the foundation of Vestas' development in China," said the company's Asia Pacific and China president, Chris Beaufait.

It has been a good week for European OEMs in the world's largest market. On 21 October, Gamesa announced a 95MW order with a new customer to supply a project also in Fujian.

Gamesa will supply its G114 2.5MW turbine to a Chinese project for the first time to developer Zhongmin's site.
