Windpower Monthly TV is joined by Sentient Science CEO Ward Thomas, Vestas' vice president of smart data Anders Hvashoj, DNV GL Energy regional manager Helmut Klug and president of Totaro & Associates, Philip Totaro.
"This is a two-market network; there's a network of demand, which is the operator, and then there is the network of supply," said Thomas.
"In the new world, of the Ubers and the Airbnbs — these new business models — one is out to aggregate demand and the end customer now has a great deal of insight and say in to what the supply is building in. Both of these have to get equal value in order for the entire ecosystem to be successful.
"So we've seen it go from a supply-oriented, one-customer-at-a-time model to both supply and demand working in an ecosystem where everyone has to get the value. What we've offered up to the industry is the digital clone model, the life model, being a standard model to be the unit of value that everyone can agree on," Thomas explained.
Hvashoj said that digitalisation had helped Vestas with monitoring components more closely, meaning they can optimise their operating fleet more accurately.
