The order forms part of the companies' 2013 framework agreement resulting in more than 2GW of turbine orders, Vestas said.

A total of 80 2MW turbines will be installed at EDF's project, which will qualify for the full PTC amount before the phase-out begins in 2017.

Vestas said 33GW of its 2MW platform has been installed onshore and offshore worldwide.

In March, Vestas and EDF agreed a master supply agreement covering Europe and North America.

Under the "share-of-wallet" deal, EDF-EN will purchase turbines from Vestas for 45% of its future capacity in Europe and 30% of its capacity in North America.

Vestas has announced almost 3.7GW of deals in the US so far in 2016, including 2.6GW of conditional deals – most of which was from the 2GW MidAmerican Energy complex in Iowa.
