Nordex wins 243MW US deal

UNITED STATES: Nordex has won a 243MW deal for a project in Texas with turbines from Acciona Windpower, following the two manufacturers' 2015 merger.

Nordex will supply 81 3MW Acciona-designed turbines to the Texas project

Nordex will supply 81 AW125 3MW turbines to an unnamed customer with installation expected to begin in early 2017.

It is the first publicised order Nordex has received for Acciona-designed wind turbines.

Acciona Wind Power had a strong presence in the Americas, prior to the merger.

Nordex closed its US factory in 2014 in a restructuring move and only 11.7% of its orders in 2015 were from the Americas region.

The Acciona 3MW platform has been installed at a number of other Texan wind projects, including the 300MW Green Pastures site owned by private asset manager Capital Dynamics, and the 165MW Cameron site owned by Swedish furniture firm Ikea.
