Vestas said it was responding to global demand and Chinese customer interest with its decision to offer the V136-3.45MW turbine to in the country.
The announcement was made to coincide with Vestas' 30-year anniversary of operating in China.
"Our V136-3.45 MW turbine, which we will manufacture and intend to sell in China, is designed for exceptional energy capture, and it is ideal for the Chinese market", said Vestas Asia-Pacific president, Chris Beaufait.
The turbine will be available on Vestas' large-diameter steel tower (LDST) design, offering hub heights exceeding 130 metres.
Vestas unveiled the turbine at the Husum Wind trade fair in Germany in September 2015.
The manufacturer won its first order for the model in December from Finnish energy firm EPV Tuulivoima.
According to the Global Wind Energy Council's 2015 global report, Vestas secured 0.9% of the Chinese market last year, installing almost 284MW. It was the second largest foreign manufacturer, behind Gamesa, in China last year, a market dominated by domestic players.
