Burkhard will replace Bernard Schaeferbarthold in the role. Burkhard will join Nordex from September to work alongside current CFO Schaeferbarthold during a handover and familiarisation process.

Burkhard joins from his role as CFO of Siemens' offshore wind division, a post he has held since 2011, although he has been employed by Siemens since 1998.

He has also worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Commission and German BHF Bank.

"For us it is of crucial importance to have someone in this position who has a comprehensive background in finance and also possesses extensive knowledge of our industry. That's why we are very pleased to welcome Mr Burkhard on board," said Nordex supervisory board chairman Wolfgang Ziebart.

In January, Nordex announced Schaeferbarthold would not renew his contract and leave the company by the end of 2016.

Schaeferbarthold has been at Nordex since 2005 and was appointed CFO in 2007. His decision to leave the company is for family reasons, Nordex said. He will take up the role as CFO at automotive parts supplier Hella, allowing him to be closer to his family.
