WORLDWIDE: Goldwind was the largest turbine manufacturer in 2015 by installations, FTI Intelligence has confirmed in its yearly global update.

Goldwind replaced Vestas as the leading manufacturer in 2015, with 12.5% of the 63GW added in 2015, according to FTI's data.

Vestas was second with 11.8% ahead of GE (9.5%) and Siemens (8%).

Eight of the top 15 manufacturers ranked by FTI are based in China. FTI said this was unsurprising, given that nearly half of 2015's global installations were in that country.

"With China's market expected to grow at a steady, but less spectacular rate during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020), we can expect to see Chinese companies increasingly challenging outside their home market, encouraged by favourable government policies," said FTI senior director Feng Zhao.

Taking China out of the equation, the top five manufacturers accounted for 76% of the global market.

FTI had already announced preliminary standings on 23 February, matching the order revealed by Bloomberg New Energy Finance data and confirming Goldwind as the most popular OEM last year.

The data in the article was updated on 29 March.
