German wind-farm developer WKN, majority-owned by another German wind developer, PNE Wind, signed a framework contract at the start of 2016 with John Laing Investments, part of UK infrastructure project developer John Laing Group, on the purchase of the 50MW projects under development by WKN in France, WKN said on 6 February.

The projects will be developed to construction stage over the next two years, at which point the purchase contracts will be triggered, WKN said. WKN has also been signed up as general contractor for construction of the projects  by the John Laing Group. It did not reveal the project details.

Roland Stanze, COO of WKN, said: "We want to expand our strategic approach to constructing international turnkey wind farms in the future. This also applies to our steadily growing WKN project pipeline in France."

WKN clinched a separate ageement with the John Laing Group over a WKN project of around 40MW under development in Poland. As part of the agreement, the project will be bid into one of Poland's upcoming tenders for new renewables capacity.
