Nordex will supply seven N100 3.3MW turbines and five N90 2.5MW turbines to the Glencarbry wind project, being developed by the investment arm of construction firm John Laing.

Delivery is expected in October 2016 and Nordex will provide servicing for 15 years.

Nordex sees Ireland as an "important market". Wind speeds at the site average 8 metres per second, according to the manufacturer, ideal for the N100 and N90 models with shorter blades.

Following the completion of Glencarbry, Nordex will have installed approximately 700MW in Ireland.

In May 2015, Nordex was awarded a 95MW deal from Irish developer Energia Renewables for its N90 2.5MW turbine. The Meenadreen Extension wind project in Donegal, in the north of the country is due to be commissioned in March 2016.
