GE to supply 120MW French cluster

FRANCE: GE has won a deal from Velocita Energy Developments to supply turbines to the 120MW Rouvai cluster in the Doubs region of eastern France.

The order from Velocita Energy is GE's largest onshore deal in France

It is the US manufacturer's largest French onshore order to date. GE will begin supplying 43 2.78MW turbines to the sites in 2016.

The Rouvai cluster comprises three projects called Vaite-Bussiere, Rougemont-Baume 1 and Rougemont-Baume 2.

Construction of the first 100MW will begin in January 2016 across all three sites, according to the developer. A further 20MW will be added to the Rougemont-Baume 2 site, which is due to be completed in 2018.

Velocita Energy completed the €200 million financing of the project in mid-December following an arrangement with the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and ING Bank.

French utility EDF has agreed to buy the power in a 15-year deal.
