The factories, to start production in 2018, will undertake nacelle assembly and blade manufacturing for the Adwen 8MW-180 turbine, selected for the St-Brieuc, Le Treport and Yeu & Noirmoutier projects, totalling nearly 1.5GW.
Adwen is also building its local supply chain. It has selected engineering group ACN-Normandie to produce the pre-assembly system for the blade bearings for the prototype 8MW turbine, currently under construction.
In addition, Normandy-based ACMH is making steel generator covers for Adwen's 5MW turbines, produced in Bremerhaven.
"We are committed to continuing the development of the industrial offshore wind sector," said Adwen CEO Luis Alvarez.
"These first contracts with French companies are the epitome of the realisation of our commitment and of the mobilisation and competitiveness of [small and medium enterprises]," Alvarez added.
