Dong said it has received the ISO 55001:2014 certificate for asset management. The developer said it is the first offshore wind project operator to get the standard.

According to Dong only a few companies have secured this certification, including Gatwick airport owners and water services company Scottish Water.

The developer said it received the certification from Bureau Veritas by standardising "processes, routines and procedures for operating and maintaining its offshore wind farms".

Dong's head of operations and maintenance, Michael Simmelsgaard, explained: "Going forward, we might be using different technology when we change a filter or a gear box on a 3.6MW turbine in the North Sea compared to an 8MW turbine in the Irish Sea, but the process when doing so will be the same."
