The latest deal, signed in early June, covers the design of a concrete and steel version of Ideol's floating foundation platform for for the Japanese market. The platforms will be used at two demonstration projects.

An Ideol spokesperon said the demonstrators are set to be installed in Japan by the end of 2017.

In March, the companies signed a technology deal with Hitachi Zosen to design, engineer and construct the floating platforms.

The platform consists of a square-shaped semi-submerged hull. Ideol said the waterfilled area inside the hull helps to stablise the foundation.

Ideol CEO Paul de La Gueriviere said: "This contract enables IDEOL to prove the economic viability of its business model and its capacity to export its technology on key international markets."
