Turbine 76 of 78 was installed at the project site located 37 kilometers off the German coast. Borkum Riffgrund 1 is using the Siemens 4MW turbine.
Approximately half of Dong's installed capacity is in the UK, including the 630MW London Array. Dong owns a 25% share in the development, a joint project with utility E.on and United Arab Emirates-based renewable energy firm Masdar.
Dong said it is targeting 6.5GW installed offshore by 2020. This means needs to install more capacity in the next five years than it has since 2002 when it build its first large-scale project, Horns Rev 1.
The company partnered Vattenfall at the 160MW Horns Rev 1 site, which was installed 13 years ago.
The developer is in the process of constructing five projects in Europe: Burbo Bank Extension and Westermost Rough in the UK plus Borkum Riffgrund 1 and Gode Wind 1 and 2 in Germany.
Other projects in the pipeline include the 1GW Massachusetts zone off the US east coast.
