The contract is for 110 G80 2MW medium-wind turbines to go to the Gulf of El Zayt wind project on the Red Sea coast. The project will be commissioned in 2017.

In February, Windpower Monthly revealed Gamesa had been awarded the Gulf of El Zayt contract to engineer, procure and construct the project. At the time, it was only 120MW.

The deal includes a three-year service agreement.

According to Windpower Monthly's data division, Windpower Intelligence, Gamesa has installed around 600MW in Egypt including the 545MW Zarafana project, also on the Red Sea.
