The installation makes Westermost Rough the first project to to be fully equipped with Siemens 6MW turbines.
Westermost Rough is majority owned by Dong (50%), with Marubeni Corporation and the UK Green Investment Bank each owning 25%.
Seaway Heavy Lifting installed the project's substation in June 2014, and the first turbine was installed in August. Westermost Rough began producing power just three weeks later, at the start of September.
Recently, the project was named as part of an ongoing lawsuit between Siemens and Enercon. Enercon owner the Wobben Foundation claims that Siemens' High Wind Ride Through (HWRT) technology infringes its European patent.
The technology is designed to allow turbines to operate at higher wind speeds.
