The contract is for 13 V112 3MW to go to the Passadumkeag wind project near Penobscot County in Maine, and includes a five-year service agreement.
Speaking about the deal, Vestas said it was its first contract with Quantum. It was unable to state when the turbines would be delivered or the project come online.
According to Windpower Monthly's data division, Windpower Intelligence, the project is set to be commissioned later this year.
The project received final regulatory approval in August 2013. Prior to this, the Maine Board of Environmental Protection had voted twice — in March and November — to allow the project to be built.
The first vote reversed a 2012 decision by the state Department of Environmental Protection to reject the proposal.
