Completed almost a year ago, the 80-turbine wind farm had to await completion of the HelWin1 link. Grundgrün Energie is marketing its output in the day-ahead wholesale electricity market.
Seajacks installed the 80th turbine at Meerwind in April 2014. Due to bad weather, grid connection delays and the clearance of unexploded World War II weaponry, the milestone was reached a few weeks behind schedule.
However, Siemens only handed over its first German North Sea grid connection, HelWin1, to operator Tennet last month.
The project is being developed by WindMW.
