Under the €60 million contract, Prysmian will design, install and test the 81 kilometres of 33kV cables. Manufacturing will take place at Prysmian's Norwegian facility and installation is due to be completed in 2016.

They will be used to connect the 70 Areva M5000 turbines together and to the substation.

In December, Iberdrola handed fellow Spanish firm Navantia the contract to build jacket foundations for the project.

In May 2014, Prysmian was handed a €730 million contract by German transmission group 50Hertz to supply cable systems to projects in the West of Adlergrund cluster, which includes Wikinger.
