ABB and its partners will manufacture over 200 kilometers of cabling to connect the project to the Danish grid. Kriegers Flak is located 15 kilometers off the Danish east coast.
The Swiss firm will be responsible for the 100 kilometers of 220kV submarine cables. South Korean firm LS Cable and System will supply 95 kilometers of 220kV onshore cables connecting the turbines to two substations.
Finally Nexans will supply 40 kilometers of 400kV cabling in order to "reinforce" the connection between onshore substations.
Transmission operator Energinet.dk said several onshore substations will need to be extended and two offshore platforms will need to be built as part of the project. A tender process for these contracts is expected later this year.
In 2014, Energinet.dk opted to use an AC grid connection system for Kriegers Flak despite originally planning to use an integrated, but more expensive, DC system.
Construction of the project has been put back by two years by the Danish government after negotiations to cut the Public Service Obligation levies on consumers' bills. The project is set to be built in 2022.
