Areva will supply 70 M5000-135 5MW turbines to Iberdrola's first German offshore project. Installation is expected to take place in 2017. The French company will also service the turbines for up to ten years.
According to the statement by Iberdrola, Areva will deliver the €550 million order as part of its joint-venture with Gamesa.
The turbines for Wikinger will be manufactured at Areva's German facilities in Bremerhaven and Stade.
The deal has been a long time in the making, as Iberdrola picked Areva as its preferred supplier for the project in December 2012.
Last week, Iberdrola handed Spanish firm Navantia the contract to build the jacket foundations and substation for Wikinger.
