Vestas will supply 15 V112-3.3MW turbines for the Larimar project. Delivery is expected in the second quarter of 2015, with commissioning due in 2016.
The Dominican Republic currently has 85MW of wind power installed. In 2011, the 25.2MW Juancho Los Cocos project was commissioned. It was the country's first large-scale wind project and uses 14 Vestas V90-1.8MW turbines.
The order from Grupo Cobra is its second in Latin America to be placed with Vestas since September.
The Spanish developer placed a 49MW order for 16 V112-3MW turbines to be used at the Kiyu project in Uruguay.
