The project, being developed by RWE and Westermeer Wind, is now ready to be connected to the Netherland's national grid.

In order for the project to be connected, Tennet constructed a new substation, installed a 110kV cable and upgraded the Emmeloord Zuidervaart and Ens substations.

The 86-turbine Noordoostpolder project is located on the Ijsselmeer dyke in the north of the Netherlands, and incorporates the 144MW Westermeerwind near shore development.

Noordoostpolder consists of 48 Siemens 3MW turbines located nearshore and 38 Enercon E126 7.5MW turbines installed onshore. It will be the Netherland's largest wind project when completed in 2016.
