The new production line will largely be used to manufacture the company's low-wind G114-2MW turbine, which Gamesa intends to introduce to the Indian market in 2015. It will also produce a smaller number of G97-2MW turbines.
This expansion of the facility is part of a EUR 100 million capital expenditure programme aimed at expanding Gamesa's operations in India over the next five years.
Since opening in July 2013, the facility has manufactured 900MW of Gamesa's 850kW and G97-2MW turbines.
The company also has a blade plant in Halol, Gujarat, and a repair centre in Red Hills, Chennai.
Gamesa has put significant resources into improving its position in the South Asian country. As a result, it topped the Indian turbine installation leader board in 2013, with a market share of 20%.
In the third quarter of 2014, India accounted for 27% of Gamesa's turbine sales and overall it has installed a total of around 1.4GW.
