LeedCo said Fred Olsen would help develop an installation strategy for the project, which is slated to begin construction in 2017. The project wold be located near Cleveland, Ohio.
A spokesman for Fred Olsen said the scope of the work to be done in the partnership was still being discussed.
LeedCo said the partnership could extend to other future offshore projects in Lake Erie and the other Great Lakes.
Six Siemens 3.2MW turbines are due to be installed at the site, in 18-metre waters. Last year, a report by the developer found monopiles could be used at the project site.
In February 2014, Fred Olsen was contracted to install the turbines for the 30MW Block Island project being developed on the US east coast by Deepwater Wind.
