The Danish manufacturer will install 100 V100-2MW turbines on the South Plains project in northern Texas. The project is due to be commissioned by the end of 2015.
Chris Brown, president of Vestas' sales in the US and Canada said the 200MW deal was the fifth contract between the two firms. As part of the order, Vestas will also service the turbines for ten years.
This deal is in addition to a 718MW master supply agreement signed between the two companies in 2013, said Vestas.
In May, First Wind ordered 48 V112-3MW turbines from Vestas for the 148MW Oakfield project in Maine, northeast US.
