Longyuan's position in China, the world's biggest market, warrants Li's position in the top 20 and the firm vies with Iberdrola for the number one slot in global wind capacity. Li has led Longyuan's expansion in China's offshore market by announcing plans to commission 1GW by the end of 2016 with the help of an CNY 18 billion ($3 billion) investment. Longyuan plans to expand outside Asia, but has so far only developed two projects in South Africa totalling 244MW, plus a 100MW project in Canada.
