One might think that merits a higher position than 15, but Goldwind, and thus Wu, has little importance outside China, despite efforts to build market share in the Americas. The company is also heavily reliant on its 1.5MW turbine, a machine dating back to the early 2000s. Wu, chairman since 2002 and CEO from 2006, has guided Goldwind through a difficult period when growth was curtailed in 2012-13. Having avoided the over-stocking pitfalls faced by China's former number one Sinovel, it now holds more than 30% of the domestic market.
