Through subsidiary MidAmerican Energy, Berkshire Hathaway has committed to building vast wind developments in midwestern US, with one cluster of wind developments in Iowa totalling 1GW. MidAmerican has also been leading the way in signing up tech companies to buy the power from its wind projects, a growing trend in the industry. Over the last year, the company has sealed power purchase agreements with Google and Facebook for the energy from its Iowan projects.
