At face value Nordex is a top ten manufacturer specialising in smaller projects. But the German company punches above its weight.

In 2013, Jurgen Zeschky was in 5th place
Much of this is down to Zeschky, who joined from engineering group Voith at the end of 2011 and identified the low-wind sector as a key target.

Progress in this area has been highlighted by the N117/2400 winning a Windpower Monthly turbine of the year award in 2013, and launching its new 64.4-metre blade at WindEnergy 2014 in Hamburg in September. In 2014 every company is talking about low-wind, but in 2012 Zeschky and Nordex were ahead of the curve.
