Since the retirement of Enercon founder Aloys Wobben, Kettwig has assumed control of Enercon through the launch of the Aloys Wobben Foundation. For this year Enercon's progress has been solid, buoyed by a strong performance in Germany.
Honourable mention goes to vice-chair Nicole Fritsch-Nehring, who shares the role of MD of Enercon itself with Kettwig. But as head of the foundation, Kettwig has greater influence.
Enercon's strategy is likely to be more of the same - conservative in outlook but adventurous in product. Kettwig recently reaffirmed his desire for the company to steer clear of the offshore sector, with the firm now offering a comprehensive range of 2-3MW onshore turbines.
