The consortium comprises BMT Asia Pacific, UK-based IT Power and Danish firm Ramboll. They have joined forces to produce the guidelines for Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute.

It will use Taiwan's policy and environmental landscape to help produce guidelines for design, construction, operations and maintenance and advise on the best technology for developers looking to enter the market.

In October 2013, Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs signed a number of agreements to develop offshore projects.

Taiwan is currently planning to install seven demonstration offshore projects, including the two-turbine Fuhai demonstration project being developed by Taiwan Generations Corp (TGC). The project's first turbine is due to be installed next year.

The Taiwanese government hopes to install 4.2GW of wind, onshore and offshore, by 2030. Its overall capacity is currently 530MW.
