Acciona launches 132-metre rotor option

SPAIN: Acciona will produce a 64.7-metre blade for a new low wind version of its 3MW AW3000 turbine.

Acciona had previously offered a 125-metre rotor blade on the 3MW platform

The new AW132/3000 turbine has been designed for IEC Class IIIb low wind conditions and is the company's largest available rotor.

The rotor will be 132-metres while the machine will be available on a 120-metre concrete tower. The company also plans to introduce an 84-metre steel tower for the turbine.

It is the fourth rotor option for the 3MW platform and the first design assessment is set to take place in the second quarter of 2015.

Acciona said it will be available for delivery in 2016 but customers can place orders now.

The blade is longer than Nordex's recently announced 64.4-metre blade, to be used on the N131/3000 turbine.
