Eng Hamed bin Salim Al Magdheri, chief executive of RAECO, said a deal will be signed next week with renewable investment firm Masdar, which will fund the $200 million project. Up to 25 turbines are planned.
The new wind development will be located on a 200 square-kilometre area in southern Oman.
Masdar will act as the main developer at the site but contractors will need to be approved by RAECO, Al Magdheri said. RAECO will operate the site for three years, following completion, expected to be in 2017.
Al Magdheri also told a press conference the firm is looking to expand its renewable energy portfolio over the next three years.
