Gamesa awarded 68MW Brazil deal

BRAZIL: Gamesa has been given a deal by Brazilian developer Sequoia Energia to supply 68MW in turbines to a project cluster in Bahia, eastern Brazil.

Gamesa will produce turbines for the Guirapa complex in east Brazil

Gamesa will produce 34 G97-2MW turbines to the proejct, which is being developed by Sequoia in partnership with local utility Companhia Hidroeletrica do Sao Francisco.

Delivery is expected to take place next year and Gamesa will also provide servicing for 15 years. The turbines will be made at Gamesa's Camacari factory.

It is the second Brazilian contract within a week for Gamesa which was handed a 231MW deal supplying the G114-2MW turbine across nine projects in Rio Grande do Norte state.

The Spanish manufacturer said the latest deal means it has secured orders to supply more than 700MW in Brazil in 2014.
