Dong and EDF seek French offshore UXO contractor

FRANCE: Dong Energy and EDF Energies Nouvelles have put out a call for a contractor to carry out seabed surveying and unexploded ordinance clearance at its three French offshore projects.

The contractor will be required to clear unexploded munitions from the seabed

The work includes seabed clearance on the turbine locations and some "potential additional locations" which will consist of side scan sonar and multi beam echo sounder surveys.

At the end of the survey, further remotely operated underwater vehicle surveys will need to be conducted at a number of locations.

The contractor will be required to provide the services at the 498MW Fécamp, 450MW Courseulles-sur-Mer and 480MW St-Nazaire projects. A consortium led by EDF, with Dong and Alstom, won the right to develop the projects in the first French offshore tender in 2012.

All of the projects will feature Alstom Haliade 6MW turbines. The Fecamp project will use gravity-based foundations, while the other two developments will use monopiles.
