Duke Energy Renewable Services, a subsidiary of utility Duke Energy, received a three-year deal from developer Pattern to supply operations and maintenance (O&M) to the project. There is an option to extend the agreement by two years.
Gulf Wind is located in southern Texas on the Gulf coast. It is one of a few to use the 2.4MW Mitsubishi MWT95 turbines that were involved in the controversial patent battle between Mitisubishi and GE.
It was commissioned in 2009 and acquired by Pattern in 2010 from investment firm Babcock & Brown.
Duke's renewable unit was formed in 2012 following the acquisition of Outland Energy Services.
It has been supplying O&M to Pattern's 101.2MW Hatchet Ridge project in California since 2012. It uses 44 Siemens 2.3MW turbines.
